| On February 7th, 3rd Assistant Chief Kenyon brought along a guest to our monthly department meeting. His guest's name - Flat Stanley. During the meeting Karl explained that he was introduced to Flat Stanley by a kindergarten student from Abington, MA. Karl also read a letter about Flat that was provided to him:
----------
My name is Flat Stanley. I became flat when a bulletin board landed on me in bed. Being flat does have its advantages. One of them is that I can be mailed all over the world to visit people and I never have to buy a plane ticket.
I have been mailed to you from Mrs. Pottey's Kindergarten class in Abington, MA. I would love if you would show me the sights where you live and write a letter about my adventures to send back to Mrs. Pottey's class. Pictures or objects representing your area would be great also! Mrs. Pottey's class is going to keep track of the places I have been on a map of the world.
I thank you in advance for your kind hospitality and am looking forward to our visit together.
Sincerely,
Flat Stanley

Well kids, I can tell you that Flat Stanley attended a monthly meeting at our department...he was very quiet...didn't say a word! He was also given a tour of the station, including the appratus bay where he was given the chance to tour the fire trucks. We took a few pictures of Flat Stanley with Chief Frink and 3rd Assistant Chief Kenyon. Karl asked if we would post the pictures and a writeup about Flat Stanley's visit to our station so the children of Mrs. Pottey's class could read about his visit. Enjoy! |
