The Dunn's Corners Fire Department's website made its first appearance on the World Wide Web in February of 2006. With the election of Chief Michael Frink in July 2006 as the new Department and District Chief, came the needed support for designing and building a website. The HTML-based site was designed by JuneBug Multimedia LLC. Firefighters Mike Perri, John Martin, and Frank Aldrich provided JuneBug Multimedia LLC with all of the information needed for the website and with designs for each of the pages. The initial thought was to have a website designed and maintained by the web designer. The purpose of the website was not only a place where the members could be informed of upcoming training events, review previous month's meeting minutes, check-out the By-laws, SOGs, and SOPs, but it would be a place where the public could learn about our fire department and fire safety. The public was provided access to our history, pictures and descriptions of our apparatus, a list of department members, contacts for inspections and plan reviews, open burning regulations, internet links to fire publications and safety, and pictures from some of our incidents.
Soon after the website's release on the internet, the department came to a consensus that it would be more beneficial if we were able to maintain the website ourselves. By maintaining the website within the department, we would be able to reduce costs and not have to pay a web designer each time we wanted to make updates. After evaluating various web designers and their work, we chose a web designer. In May 2006 Frank Aldrich contacted Ron Raley at Firehouse Solutions and inquired about them providing us with their web hosting and design services. Firehouse Solutions provides services to various fire, rescue, and EMS companies. The software they employ is considered by many to be the state-of-the-art and more importantly, the web design is user-friendly and allows us to easily update the site at our convenience. Frank Aldrich provided Firehouse Solutions with all of the necessary content for the website and the re-designed site went live on November 4, 2006. The new site provides our members and the public with the same services as listed above as well a list of upcoming community events and an incident news ticker. The members area allows the department members to access departmental documents, be informed of upcoming training announcements, and a discussion forum.
