My name is John Merkel and I live in Westerly on Fletcher Drive. I am currently filling the At-Large Member position vacated by Matt Manni. My appointment to that position by the Operating Committee (OC) must be ratified by the District Electors if I am to continue in the role beyond the District Annual Meeting on July 15.

I was Moderator of the Dunn’s Corners Fire District from 2001 – 2009, during which time I was deeply involved with our major Charter revision as well as the hiring of our first full-time paid Fire Chief, among other things. I was also a member of the Dunn’s Corners Fire Department from 2006 – 2017. I am a retired chemical engineer, a long-time resident of Dunn’s Corners, and currently serve as an EMT at Charlestown Ambulance and Rescue and as a member of the Hope Valley Wyoming Fire Department regional hazmat response team.
