The Nominating Committee for the DCFD Operating Committee hereby provides notice of two At Large members for the Operating Committee positions which are open for election at this year’s annual meeting on Wednesday, July 15, 2026.

Each At-Large member must be an eligible elector of the Dunn's Corners Fire District, specifically a “ person residing within the District, who is qualified to vote in the municipal elections of the Towns of Westerly or Charlestown.” The incumbent as well as any eligible individuals may run for the two open positions. A candidate can be nominated by any eligible elector of the district including themself. The Charter requires that the Nominating Committee must receive nominations at least 30 days prior to the Annual Meeting: for this year that means no later than June 15, 2026.

The overview of the positions is as follows:
“The Operating Committee shall be responsible for the overall management of the District. It shall have the charge and control of all property and employees of the District and shall have full authority to exercise all powers and functions necessary to carry out the purposes of the District.” The Operating Committee’s powers and responsibilities are outlined in Section C of the District Charter found on the District website.

Nominations must include the name, address, and telephone number of the person submitting nomination and the name, address, and telephone number of the nominee. (which can be the same person.) The Nominating Committee will contact the nominee to confirm receipt and to confirm willingness to serve.

Nominees may optionally forward a Statement of Qualifications to the Nominating Committee (addresses noted above) each Statement of Qualification will be posted to the Dunns Corners Fire Department website www.dunnscornersfire.com for voter review prior to the election. Campaign speeches will not be allowed at the annual meeting.
