My name is Matthew Manni and my purpose for writing is to submit my name for consideration to the operating committee at Dunn’s Corner Fire Department. I have been a resident on Healey Brook Drive in Charlestown since 2001 and I currently serve as Assistant Fire Marshal with the Town of West Warwick Fire Department. I have served as a career firefighter with this department for the past 24 years and currently hold the rank of Lieutenant. I have held an Assistant Deputy State Fire Marshal’s license since 2011 when I was appointed Fire Inspector with the West Warwick Fire Prevention Division under the leadership of retired Fire Marshal James Bobola.

I wish to serve on your operating committee because I firmly believe that all firefighters should be well equipped and trained to meet the ever-evolving emergencies that first responders face on a daily basis. While Charlestown and Westerly are highly seasonal towns, a growing residential and commercial populace requires a fire department that can adapt and grow with those populations and the needs that accompany them. I believe the experience I have to offer will serve as a valuable asset to the district and its operational goals.

In addition to my credentials outlined above, I am a graduate of CCRI and Providence College where I received my bachelor’s degree in Fire Science. I have also previously served as a dispatcher with the Charlestown Police Department. Currently, I serve as a per diem traffic constable with the Charlestown Police Department and have done so since October of 2009. Finally, I am a veteran of our country’s armed forces (1989 – 1995) having served as an Army Tactical Satellite/Microwave Systems Operator, and have also served as an aircraft firefighter for the RI Air National Guard.

Your consideration of my submission is greatly appreciated.

Respectfully submitted,

Matthew C. Manni
