DCFD Announces the Passing of Retired Assistant Chief John S. “Jack” Champlin

It is with deepest regret that the Dunn's Corners Fire Department announces the passing of Retired Assistant Chief John S. "Jack" Champlin. Assistant Chief Champlin was a long time member of the department, and had served in various capacities, including Engineer, Captain and Assistant Chief. He was also the gracious host of the DCFD annual picnic for more than thirty years. In 2008, Assistant Chief Champlin was a recipient of the Chief Edwin M. Greene Award, a recognition of lifetime achievement serving and supporting the Dunn's Corners Fire Department.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, June 22nd from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the Gaffney-Dolan Funeral Home, 59 Spruce Street in Westerly. The funeral service will be held at the Dunn's Corners Community Church, Presbyterian, 221 Post Road, Westerly, on Wednesday, June 23rd at 10:00 A.M. There is no procession from the funeral home to the church. Interment will be in River Bend Cemetery, Beach Street, Westerly.
