On Friday morning a delivery truck hit a light pole in the parking lot of Stop & Shop. Upon arrival, the driver was out of the vehicle, and there was a large amount of diesel fuel leaking out of the passenger side tank. DCFD acted quickly and diverted the fuel from a nearby storm drain. Approximatly 30-40 gallons of fuel went on the ground before the tanks were pumped dry. Westerly Fire, Hope Valley Haz Mat, and RI DEM were a tremendous help with their supplies and quick response to the scene. Crews worked for four hours until the truck was removed, and Clean Harbors took over the scene for a complete cleaning.
