DCFD Firefighters To Participate In The 2010 Fight For Air Climb
By Webmaster/Lieutenant Frank Aldrich Jr.
January 7, 2010
On February 27, 2010 a team of firefighters from the Dunn's Corners Fire Department will climb 29 floors/ 58 flights/ 597 stairs in Providence, RI in their turnout gear and raise money to support a worthy cause.
Responsible for one in seven deaths in the United States, lung disease is the third leading cause of death in our country. Through this event we'll be raising funds for research, education and advocacy and helping to bring hope to the 35 million Americans who are living with lung disease.
Proceeds from this unique and exciting stair climb support the American Lung Association in their mission of preventing lung disease and promoting lung health. The challenge of climbing hundreds of stairs does not compare to the challenge that people with lung disease face each and every day. Research has shown that unhealthy air is one of the leading causes of lung disease.
