Ice Rescue Training
By Lieutenant Carl Johnson IV
January 2, 2010
On Tuesday December 29th, Dunn's Corners Fire along with Westerly Ambulance, Watch Hill Fire, and Ashaway Fire trained for cold water rescues. The night was the coldest of the year with 13 degree temps, and winds of 20 mph. Each department went over their techniques and equipment, and donned their suits to practice rescues. DCFD also used their rescue sleds for easier patient removal from the ice. A lot was learned, and a big thanks goes out to the Watch Hill Fire Department for inviting us to the training.
