On Wednesday members responded to multiple different calls and attended weekly training. This Wednesday nights focus was on hose line operations, pumper operations and ground ladders. Reminder- Burning Ban

We were hoping that we wouldn’t have to make one of these posts this year, but obviously we do. As of March 15th we are in a burn ban, that means you cannot burn unless you call us and get a burn permit (which would only be granted if it’s actively raining). Neighboring departments have responded to multiple brush fires over the past couple of days, some of which have threatened houses and other property. ... (Full Story & Photos)

DCFD On the Scene- Woody Hill Management- Lost in the woods.

This evening members responded to the Woody Hill Management area to assist an individual who was lost in the woods. Members were able to quickly enter into the woods and locate the individual at their last cellphone ping. This morning just after 1AM DCFD responded to its first due for a reported structure fire. Upon arrival there was a smoke condition in the house, the smoke was caused by an appliance in the basement. Members ventilated the house and metered it for CO levels, once it was deemed safe the homeowner was let back in. Tanker 1, Engine 5 and Car 1 responded. Yesterday evening Rescue Products International, Inc. instructor Sean Barry came to DCFD to train members on ice rescue operations. During the training we completed a hands-on refresher on our Marsars Water Rescue Systems ice rescue sleds. Thursday night wisdom! Slow down and move over it’s the law. When you see Emergency vehicles, Tow trucks, ect. on the side of the road slow down and move over.
