By Firefighter Chris Wells
September 28, 2014

The production of DCFD's newest apparatus has started. DCFD has ordered an E-One custom Rescue-Engine on a custom Typhoon chassis. The Rescue-Engine will feature a 1,000 gallon tank, 30 gallon class A foam tank and a 1,500 GPM pump. The apparatus will also feature a full rescue compliment to run first due as our rescue truck. The apparatus committee has designed the truck as such to have a Rescue side to the truck as well as a Fire side to have a division of duties and equipment readily accessible. Stay tuned for updated photos as they become available through the build process.

6/5/2013
The cab has finished in the paint department and is now set to run through the cab assembly line to receive all of the interior and electrical components to later be dropped onto the chassis. The photos shown also feature the two medical compartments added to the cab over each wheel well.

6/18/2014
The cab is now making its way through the cab assembly. The emergency lighting, scene lighting, seats and rear compartments are installed. The body is now in the fabrication process.

7/1/2014
The Cab is now waiting on the finished chassis. The Chassis is being prepared to accept the engine and power options. Also the pump and tank will be fitted prior to the body being dropped onto the truck. The body is currently baking in the paint booth. The truck should be pieced together by the end of next week.

7/16/2014
All parts of the apparatus have been combined. The truck now looks close to the finished product. They have also added the front bumper extension which will house our preconnected Hurst Combi tool and a trash line. Delivery to Greenwood Fire Apparatus should take place the week of 7/20. From there all lettering and pre delivery finishes will be completed prior to final acceptance.

9/1/2014
DCFD has taken preliminary delivery of the new engine. Greenwood fire apparatus will be taking the truck back to further mount equipment once brackets come in, and then have the truck for their open house.

9/28/2014
The new engine is very close to being placed in service (hopefully within the week). Most to all equipment has been mounted in its own positions. Certain equipment will be moved off of other apparatus once the truck is placed in service. Mainly the medical equipment and certain water movement items will be required.

Stay tuned for its first in service call!
